ABOUT ABOUT

"The Newly Discovered Shakespeare First Folio goes viral!" with Dr. Eric Rasmussen.

Eric Rasmussen, an award-winning author, editor, and scholar, has been called "the Robert Langdon of the Shakespearean world" by The Washington Post. Stories about his recent authentication of a newly-discovered Shakespeare First Folio, featured in The New York Times, USA Today, The Guardian, NPR, CNN, the BBC, and other media outlets, have received 12 billion page views from 323 million unique visitors to date. See his full bio here.

The 1623 edition of Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories and Tragedies, is known as the First Folio.

The Shakespeare First Folio: A Descriptive Catalogue is based on two decades of research. Colleagues Anthony James West and Dr. Eric Rasmussen located 232 surviving copies of the book – a remarkable 72 more than were recorded in Sidney Lee’s census over a century ago. A research team of University of Nevada, Reno graduate students examined every copy in situ and prepared full bibliographic descriptions of each. Dr. Rasmussen also published a trade book offering a narrative account of the research, The Shakespeare Thefts: In Search of the First Folios, which has reached a wide audience.

Sierra College Insights is an interactive presentation series that takes place on the Tahoe-Truckee campus. It is provided at no cost and is open to residents and visitors. Attendees are invited to socialize over refreshments sponsored by Starbucks from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
