Saving working memory using training and neurostimulation
Many of us fear losing our cognitive abilities. Advances in experimental techniques are being paired with cognitive training to see if lasting measurable benefits can be found.
"Our work in healthy young and older adults pairs working memory training with transcranial direct current stimulation," shares Dr. Marian Berryhill who will be leading this session for Sierra College Insights. "Although early, these data indicate that some benefits can be found and they extend to unpracticed skills."
About our Speaker
Marian Berryhill, PhD earned her undergraduate degree in psychobiology and French literature at Hamilton College. After serving as a Peace Corps volunteer, she completed graduate training in cognitive neuroscience at Dartmouth College. She spent four years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University prior to joing the faculty at the University of Nevada in 2010. Dr. Berryhill is an Associate Professor in the Programs of Cognitive and Brain Sciences and Integrative Neuroscience, and she is the Principal Investigator of the Memory and Brain Laboratory in the Department of Psychology.
